The main goal of your business website should be to get more customers. Even if you don’t sell your products online, the internet is the first place a customer will search to buy something.
That’s why it’s essential to have a website so you have a place to showcase your work and answer questions about your business or services.
I’m offering a done for you website service – I’ll be taking you step by step through the essentials:
- Registering your domain
- Finding a host for your website
- Setting up your email
- Creating your website
- Setting up your website backups
- Teaching you how to use your new website
My goal for you when building your website is:
- To have a website that you are proud of
- Complete Control
- Pain free
- Affordable
Of course you could do it yourself… right?
But then you have a steep learning curve, learning new technology by yourself. Make decisions for things that you may not understand and then doing all the hard work setting everything up… On top of a full day’s work.
Wouldn’t it be better if you had someone that could explain all the technical jargon in plain English, give you sound advice and explain why things are done a certain way, and most of all, do the hard work for you?
What is involved? ( The process )
Casual chat
We’ll start with a chat to discuss your needs, either in person or over the phone at a time that is convenient for you.
I like to do these discussions after hours so you’re relax and not being interrupted by your day to day tasks.
Usually this can take up to an hour. We’ll chat about:
You and your business.
The goal of your new website
Design of your new website
The steps involved to build your new site
Registering your domain name and finding a host
Every website needs a domain name which is the address of your website. A host which is where your website will live.
I’ll explain all the technical aspects of a domain name and host. Together we’ll go through it step by step so you know that you have the right service for your needs and that you have complete control over the whole process.
I’ve also done the hard work and found service providers for you, that I trust and have used for many years.
Working on the design of your website
Together we’ll go over some design principles and best practices so you have a complete understanding as to why things are done a certain way the best results.
The technology your website will be built on is WordPress. It’s very customisable and an easy to use platform.
WordPress has more than enough flexibility for a small business website or ecommerce store. By using the WordPress platform, we are also future proofing yourself for the future if you ever do want to change the design or the direction of your website.
As a starting point, we will use a premium theme for your website design to speed up the process. From there, we can fine tune the design to suit your needs.
Adding content to your website
No one knows your business better than you do!
This is the part where you get involved and provide the necessary information about your business & services.
It’s ok if you’re not a fan of writing. I have easy to follow exercises to get all the necessary information out of your head onto the website.
Finishing Touches
This is the point where the website design has been completed and uploaded to your hosting provider.
All the content you provided is proofread and photos uploaded. The Backup system will be configured and setup for daily backups.
The email accounts for your website will now be created and setup on your computer and mobile devices.
Before handing over your new website, I’ll provide a session on how to use and look after your website and give you documentation for future reference.
It’s at this point your 3 months of support will start.
Website Maintenance
Once your website has been built and live on the Internet. Complimentary 3 months of maintenance is included to help you get use to having a website.
Part of your package included lessons on how to use and also look after your new website.
Website maintenance involves four types of updates:
WordPress updates – which is the technology that your website will be built with is regularly updated and these updates need to installed to keep your website secure.
Plugins updates – Add functionality to your websites and should be kept up-to-date to keep your website secure and for new features.
Theme updates – Think of a theme as the paint job for your website. It needs updating but not as regular they say WordPress or a plugin.
Backup check – If anything goes wrong with your website having a working backup will allow you to restore it. You need to regularly check that your backups are working and that you are able to restore them when needed.
If you feel comfortable… you’re more than welcome to look after the maintenance of your site and upload content yourself.
But if you don’t want to…That’s ok
I can assist you with the maintenance of your website with plans starting from $25 a month.
We’ll be able to further discuss these options when we chat.

I use WordPress because of the flexibility it gives you as the website owner.
For the majority of businesses, WordPress is overkill for there small website. But as your business grows and changes so can your website with minimal effort.
In the future if you would like to add different functionality or even change the whole design.
Not a problem, you can do this yourself using themes or plugins, you can hire me again or you can hire any professional web developer, WordPress is definitely the best option.
Your website will be hosted on your own server. If you’ve outgrown your hosting provider, you can move to someone else. You have complete flexibility.
Even though WIX, Weebly and Squarespace offer customisation, you are locked in to their monthly plans and system for life.
The service I provide is to create a business website or online store for you. It does not include a domain name, web hosting or backups.
I specifically do it this way so you have complete control of your website.
I can help you make the choice as to what provider will be the best for you based on your needs and cost.
Domain name – Is the equivalent of a street address for your website. Registration is yearly and goes for about $15 a year.
Web hosting – Your website needs to be hosted on a server before your customers can see it. Hosting goes for about $100 a year.
Website Backup – To keep your website safe a backup service needs to be used and costs up to $60 a year
My prices are very competitive. I do however offer discounts for not for profit organisations. Please contact me for more information
